Director of Women’s Affairs, Dorosday Kenneth, has thanked the Director General for Women’s Affairs, Mark Bebe for making it possible for the latest Development Committee of Officials meeting to pass a Council of Minister’s Paper on 34% for Women’s participation within the Municipality and Provincial Government.

In a letter which she copied to women and men leaders who have an important role on the development agenda, the Director said her Department has followed closely the nature of discussions that took place during the DCO meeting.

She said, “I take this opportunity to congratulate you and to thank you for tabling the COM Paper on 34% for Women’s participation within the Municipality and Provincial Government at the DCO Meeting.

“We believe that because of your belief, experiences and convictions on the role of Gender in addressing the many issues and challenges of developments within our communities and country today, you were able to chair and provide guidance to the discussions which saw the passing of the COM Paper at the DCO level”.

She is confident that the positive development towards an active participation of women at Municipality and Provincial Government levels, would push them to start planning and organising themselves to influence the agenda in their areas of work with their stakeholders especially in the final stage on the development of the agenda when it is debated in parliament on August this year.
