Three new Cabinet Ministers were sworn-into office Monday in Tarawa to replace the two ministers who resigned from office last week.

A statement from the Office of the President said the three ministers – RimetaBeniamina, MP from NikunauWaysang Kum Kee, MP from Nonouti and Tangariki Reete, MP from Betio took their oath before Chief Justice Sir John Muriain the presence of President Anote Tong, Cabinet Ministers and Secretaries.

Beniamina will take up the portfolio of Minister for Communications, Transport and Tourism Development (MCTTD) while Kum Kee takes up the portfolio of Minister for Public Works and Utility (MPWU).

Both Ministers will take up their new roles effective from today replacing outgoing Ministers Taberannang Timeon and Kirabuke Teiaua who stepped down from their Ministerial roles last Friday, 11 October 2013.

The third Minister, Tangariki Reete will take up the new role in the newly established Ministry of Women, Youth and Social Affairs (MWYS). Reete will now become the third women minister in the Tong administration.
