Hon Choylin Yim Douglas comes from a rich and diverse cultural heritage, with a Tuvaluan mother and a Cantonese father. She pursued higher education at the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education and the University of the South Pacific. A passionate sports enthusiast, she developed essential qualities such as teamwork, resilience, and a balanced lifestyle through her athletic experiences.

Honorable Choylin’s professional journey began in an unexpected setting as a casino card dealer. Through hard work and determination, she advanced to the role of Shift Manager, which she held for four years. Eager for new opportunities, she transitioned into the tobacco industry as an Accounts Clerk, where she gained three years of financial management experience. In 2000, she was appointed Finance Controller at Dalgro Solomon Islands, a position she held with distinction for 16 years. Her tenure was marked by significant accomplishments, reinforcing her reputation as a capable and trustworthy financial expert.

Driven by a strong commitment to serving her community and country, Honorable Choylin entered politics. In 2024, she was elected as the Member of Parliament for Ngella Constituency in Central Province and currently serves as the Minister of Culture and Tourism in the Solomon Islands.
