Catherine Launa Nori is a private business entrepreneur who owns and operates a civil design and construction business, as well as a shipping and logistics company in the Solomon Islands. She has served as a Board Director for several State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), including the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC) and Solomon Airlines Limited. Additionally, she has held board positions in various private organizations, churches, educational institutions, and the private sector peak body, including the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industries from 2014 to 2015. In 2017, she was appointed President of the Solomon Islands Women in Maritime Association (SIWIMA), and from 2021 to 2024, she served as a Commissioner for the Office of the Public Service Commission.
In 2024, Cathy Nori was elected as the Honorable Member for Maringe Kokota Constituency, becoming one of only three female representatives in the 12th Parliament of Solomon Islands. She initially served as Deputy Chair of the Government Caucus before being appointed Deputy Speaker of Parliament in 2025.
Honorable Cathy Nori holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), which she attained in 2007. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, she worked for various organizations, including the WorldFish Centre, a regional scientific research institution, from 1994 to 2005. She later became the head of IDC Shipping Company Ltd, one of the major local shipping companies in the Solomon Islands, from 2010 to 2014
